I have downloaded the ST4 version of OTONE. Extracted all the parts to the correct folders in the "SampleTank 4" directory. I'm sure I've done that part right, because clearly, SampleTank recognizes the patches. However, when I try to load the patches, I get the above popup. I can't authorize SampleTank 3 because I don't have it, and it is not offered. I have also tried to use the ST3 version of OTONE to the same result.
Notice that the OTONE patches are greyed out.

Also, these "Imported" Libraries have these icons on them. When I click on "ST4 Imported" it simply brings me to the IK My Products page with no further instructions.

Somehow I've not seen a single other post about this issue. Can I get some help?
Unfortunately I don't know how can I help more from my side on this issue. Seems like you have to import at least one sound from S3 free library to authorize anything built for that version - orchestools one included. I have in my plans to make a proper sample4 version of the library using their new S4 editor which is way more powerful than S3 - but it will require building everything from scratch and that's a lot of work. It might be available early 2023 and it will be cheap to purchase but it wont be free. You might want to try ORCHESTOOLS | SECTIONS though. I personally think it is way more powerful and it is in constant development, version 1.5 which will be released by the end of this year will have more sounds and possibilities, and more planned for 2023 and beyond!
Thought I'd share that I'm having the same issue, and I think it's because I've never owned Sampletank 3. I think I'll be giving up for now, but I hope this gets fixed in the future.
Update: IKM did not help, telling me to contact the maker of the third party instrument. Unfortunately, at this point, I'm sadly out of options. Sections is still quite nice, though, so I guess I'll be using that.
I'm glad you like otone and so sorry for having problems. If you want you can also check out ORCHESTOOLS | SECTIONS vst instruments, if you are in windows, they are built from the same sample library and feature same sounds. The approach is different though.
I see. I mean free sounds that were part of sampletank 3 CS free library. Those should be on your downloads account at IK Multimedia. On my system i have the bellow shown folder structure at USERS/Public/public documents path
amd all presets show on library browser of sampletank 4. (btw, You can isolate OTONE presets by selecting category as shown bellow)
and all presets are loaded on multipatches as well.
No authentication is required and everything works well. Please make sure that folders are copied correctly and settings and paths are correct as they are explained on the installation guide document included in the otone download archive.
Hi Dafor.
Well this is strange since SAMPLETANK should not recognize OTONE as an library and should not ask for authorization since it is not required! All that is needed is copying the folders as explained in the installation guide!
things to check out:
Make sure you put otone samples to "samples" folder and not to 'imported samples' of sampletank 4 - otherwise patches will not load at all. You can see the patches on sampletank UI but cannot load them.
See if importing any of the sampletank 3 free sounds libraries might be necessary to resolve locked "imported ST3" icon!? I will look into it some more and post here if I find a solution for you.
Sorry for your troubles.
