I have a feature request (or maybe it's already existing but I didn't find it?):
I use Piano S standalone on an old laptop. This is part of a "retrofit"-project where I put an electronic keyboard and speakers, connected via a used Motu interface, into an acoustic piano that is beyond (reasonable) repair.
The idea is to have something like a digital piano, but in the house of an acoustic one. For this it would be idea to just switch it on, wait a few seconds until the laptop is booted and Piano S is loaded up and start playing.
Most of it aready works perfectly, but it would be great if there was a possibility to tell Piano S to load a specific preset on startup (instead of INIT).
I could imagine this with a checkbox in the settings like "load last used preset on startup" or (if easier) maybe also as a commandline parameter to load a specific one.
Removing the lid and the woodenblock to the left reveals they are electronic keys with no connection to the actual piano mechanics:
The circuit board is the original one from the SL990pro with connectors for power, MIDI-out and the sustain pedal:
In the bottom part of the piano there are a pair of old M-Audio AV40 active speakers. The left one is slightly elevated to not interfere with the rods for the pedals:
The original sustain pedal is disconnected from the acouustic parts and just a bit extended to the right, where it pushes onto a standard electric one:
I decided to leave the rest of te stuff (laptop & audio interface) outside for easier access. The wires (2x power, MIDI, audio) surprisingly fit through a small gap, so I did not have to drill a hole into the piano body... That would have cost me some mental effort to do.
Volume control and headphone jack are directly accessible on the MOTU Track 16 interface sitting on top of the piano:
The whole setup is completely removable and the piano can be returned to be an acoustic one without any problems or visible damages. To my surprise, I did not need any additional dampening for the strings. Surely they pick up a bit of the Piano S sound from the speakers (especially the lower ones), but they are barely audible when playing in living-room volume. They just add a slight acoustic "reverb" to the overall sound.Nevertheless it took some time and EQ (luckily built-in to the MOTU) and tweaking in Piano S to find a nice sound. As the speakers are enclosed in the piano, I had to boost the highs quite a bit and get rid of some low-mid and bass resonances from the piano housing. At the moment, when I switch to headphones this results in a rather unpleasant and non-natural sound... Hopefully I can fix this with a second Piano S preset, and I have to check if I can disable the EQ for the headphone out in the interface.Overall it was really surprisingly easy to do the modification. It was done in about a week, but I only spent 1-2 hours in the evenings on it. Most difficult was the precise placement of the new keys (having nice gap sizes to the sides and front) and getting width and heigt of the two wooden blocks left and right of the keys fit perfectly.I'm quite happy with the result. :)
Hello! Thank you for the amazing work, happy to find your pluginsAll your stuff is about the orchestra. What if resynthesize some orchestral sounds from real ones and put them into GENESYN2 as waveforms? :) This should be interesting i think, and also in context of your project
Hi there. Thank you. Glad you like the plugins, hope you find them useful in your work. I think that we need a wavetable capable synth for that. I know it is possible to make those types of synths in HISE platform - but have yet to learn how to do it. It is a good suggestion to plan for 2023 generation of orchestools synths. Thanx.
Sounds nice. Just look, there is no such thing except those huge expensive kontakt libs. Would be cool to have it from you. I'm up to test it night and day for you haha. Thanks!
Hi and thanks a lot for your amazing work!

What do you think about that?
